1912年，孙中山（邱心志 饰）当选南京国民政府临时大总统。坐镇北平的袁世凯（张秋歌 饰）设计迫使清王朝退位，攫取革命胜利果实，当选大总统之职。在此之后，孙中山解甲归田，远赴东瀛，宋教仁（田亮 饰）踌躇满志，组建国会，竞选总统，继续推动共和的施行，结果反遭袁党暗杀。闻听噩耗，孙赶回祖国，发表讨袁宣言，并仓促掀起了二次革命。 由于各种原因革命最终失败，孙与黄兴（姚居德 饰）先后逃往日本，昔日好友分道扬镳，国内革命形势也不容乐观。适值此时，宋庆龄（聂玫 饰）出现在孙中山的生命中。她见证了国父为了祖国的未来苦苦思索和往复奔波的戎马一生……。In the tenth series, in the second episode ("The Son'll Come Out") Michael comes out as gay to his parents, first to his father after coming home drunk then later to his mother.
